The fourth local elections since Croatia gained independence over a decade ago were held in 570 constituencies. Voters elected 8,377 local representatives among about 64,000 candidates, eight per each seat.
Media blackout was in force until 19:00 pm Sunday and covered the release or estimate of election results.
The turnout was relatively low with 28.5 percent of voters casting their ballots until 16:00 hrs.
The elections were held in a tolerant and peaceful atmosphere.
