DIP president Ivica Crnic said the elections were being held at 6,590 polling stations in a peaceful and tolerant atmosphere.
Asked if there was information about violations of electoral blackout, Crnic said DIP was informed of one such violation in the region of Slavonia, but added this was within the jurisdiction of the local county election commission.
The election monitoring nongovernmental organisation GONG said the voting was proceeding in a tolerant and democratic atmosphere at most polling stations and that only a small number of irregularities had been noted by 10.30 am.
GONG also said that the professionalism of the voter committees ranged from good to excellent, and that cooperation with them and election commissions was good.
