Tulicic was relieved of duty "over inappropriate engagement in political initiatives, which is contrary to the principles of depoliticising the police," read the press release signed by ministry spokesman Zlatko Mehun.
The ministry declined to elaborate on the reasons of Tulicic's sacking.
Tulicic is one of the founders of the Croatian Democratic Assembly of Slavonia and Baranja initiative, according to a list on www.slavonija.org. The initiative resulted in yesterday's ousting of Branimir Glavas, Vladimir Sisljagic and Ivan Drmic from the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
HDZ leader Ivo Sanader reiterated today that despite the loss of three members, the party continued to have the majority in parliament.
