VUKOVAR, April 20 (Hina) - The chief of the OSCE Mission to
Croatia, Ambassador Peter Semneby, said on Wednesday eastern Croatia's
Vukovar-Srijem County had the opportunity as well as responsibility to serve as
an example of post-war reconciliation for the rest of Croatia.
Semneby said the country was fulfilling that role and taking responsibility.
The outgoing ambassador was received by prefect Nikola Safer, who said
the coexistence in the county was the best demonstration of reconciliation
despite the fact that the fate of more than 500 remained unknown.
Safer also said the county could not remain a closed-off enclave but
open towards itself and towards other regions.
Semneby was also received by Vukovar Mayor Vladimir Stengl.
