The purpose of the two-day conference is to promote dialogue with a view to incorporating environmental principles into policies on sustainable development and accession to the EU, exchanging views and identifying further possibilities for regional cooperation.
In addition to government officials, the conference is being attended by experts on sustainable development and representatives of donor organisations and the EU. The Croatian delegation is led by Herman Susnik, secretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and assistant minister Srecko Selanac.
On Tuesday, participants are expected to adopt a declaration demonstrating readiness for cooperation in sustainable development in the context of integration with the EU.
