WASHINGTON, March 1 (Hina) - Croatia on Tuesday received Washington's full support for the holding of the Dubrovnik conference on the drawing closer of Southeast European countries to NATO.

On behalf of the countries signatories to the US-Adriatic Charter, Croatian Ambassador to Washington Neven Jurica hosted a meeting at which he informed ambassadors of countries that joined NATO in the last enlargement wave and representative of the US State Department and the White House of progress Croatia, Albania and Macedonia made on their path to NATO.

Jurica told the present that Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader had invited them to attend the Dubrovnik conference, scheduled for July. The conference is expected to be attended by the prime ministers of Southeast European countries, new NATO member states, NATO and EU senior officials and representatives of the United States.

"The conference, organised by Croatia, is aimed at directing attention to the need for including the countries of Southeast Europe into full membership of NATO and the EU," a Croatian diplomatic source told HINA after the meeting in the Croatian Embassy in Washington.

The diplomat said the ambassadors expressed interest in the conference and supported it.

A US delegation, led by ambassador to NATO Victoria Nuland, will arrive in Croatia in early March. The delegation is expected to get an insight into Croatia's efforts invested in the process of joining NATO and the country's relations with the US in that context, the same source said.

Jurica also informed ambassadors of Tuesday's meeting of the prime ministers of the countries signatories to the US-Adriatic Charter, Croatia's Sanader, Albania's Sali Berisha and Macedonia's Vlado Buckovski, which was held in Durres.

The meeting in Washington was also attended by diplomatic representatives of Moldova, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro.
