PODGORICA, March 1 (Hina) - A referendum on the state and legal statuson Montenegro will be held on 21 May and the question at thereferendum will be : do you want Montenegro to be an independent statewith full international and legal
subjectivity, this was agreed at ameeting between European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak andrepresentatives of the authorities and the opposition in Podgorica onTuesday.
PODGORICA, March 1 (Hina) - A referendum on the state and legal
status on Montenegro will be held on 21 May and the question at the referendum
will be : do you want Montenegro to be an independent state with full
international and legal subjectivity, this was agreed at a meeting between
European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak and representatives of the authorities
and the opposition in Podgorica on Tuesday. This agreement must be
confirmed by the Montenegrin parliament at a session on Wednesday.
Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic said on Tuesday he would propose
to the parliament to adopt the decision on the referendum immediately after the
adoption of the law on the referendum on the state status of Montenegro
Lajcak informed Vujanovic in detail of the content of a conclusion by
the European Union Council of Ministers concerning the referendum on
Montenegro's independence.
If the citizens do not vote for the country's independence at the
referendum, another one can be held only after three years.
