Talks entitled "The emergence and development of the Montenegrin nation" and "An independent Montenegro as a condition for the survival of the Montenegrin nation" were also given.
The purpose of the event was to present Montenegro's cultural, historical and other values, explain why the Montenegrin minority in Croatia supported Montenegro's independence bid, and show how minority ethnic groups in the city and county of Rijeka and in Croatia exercise their rights, said the head of the Montenegrin Minority Council in Rijeka, Ljubo Radovic.
The Mayor of Rijeka, Vojko Obersnel, gave a reception for a delegation from Montenegro and representatives of the Montenegrin minority in Croatia and supported efforts by the Movement for an Independent Montenegro ahead of a forthcoming referendum on independence in that country.
