"Today we got the message that we must fulfil that obligation immediately, and I hope we will do it soon," Draskovic said.
Earlier in the day, the EU Council adopted conclusions urging Serbia and Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina to fully cooperate with the tribunal or else their talks on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU would be disrupted.
Serbia can avoid the SAA talks being disrupted only if it achieves full cooperation with the Hague tribunal over the next few weeks, EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said at a press conference after the Council meeting.
It is high time Serbia started fully cooperating with the Hague tribunal, which should lead to the arrest and handover of Bosnian Serb wartime military commander Ratko Mladic and other fugitives. That is the way in which the disruption of talks can be avoided before the next round at the beginning of April, Rehn said.
Draskovic said that he did not know where General Mladic was, but that he knew who was protecting him. "Those are the forces of the former regime who fear the European future of Serbia and who can rule only in an isolated Serbia."
