Seks met Barroso as part of his first official visit to Croatia. The Brussels delegation also included Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn and the EU's chief negotiator, Michael Leigh.
According to a press release issued by the Croatian Parliament's Public Relations Office, Barroso said that despite fears among the Croatian public Croatia would benefit a lot from EU membership, and that the EU would also benefit from Croatia's membership considering its valuable experience and knowledge arising from its position in Southeast Europe.
Seks highlighted a new and higher level of relations between the EU and Croatia, characterised by closer and more intense cooperation within the process of negotiations and through the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Seks informed the EC president about all activities the Croatian Parliament was undertaking as part of the country's preparations for EU membership, stressing the need to thoroughly inform the Croatian public of all aspects of the entry process.
