Dismissing Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) parliamentarian Damir Kajin's interpretation that the withdrawal of the draft amendments from fast-track parliamentary procedure might indicate that the government could give up the draft, Kosor said during Question Time in parliament on Wednesday that the Pension Insurance Act would certainly be changed and soon.
She went on to say that talks would continue with trade unions and pensioners' associations about possible modifications of some of the proposed amendments.
Silvano Hrelja of the Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) asked Economy and Labour Minister Djuro Popijac whether he felt responsible "for the mass-scale applications for early retirement" of 20,000 workers who decided to apply for pensions to avoid more stringent penalisation, proposed in the government-sponsored amendments for early retirement in the next period.
Minister Popijac said he would feel responsible if he was not trying to make the pension system viable.
