Commenting on the decision of the parliamentary Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and the Political System to refer the labour law referendum issue to the Constitutional Court, Josipovic said on Tuesday afternoon that this was a possible and legitimate path.
However, I advocate something else and that is respect for the will of the people, the president said after his advisors on economic matters held a meeting.
He explained that the purpose of his proposal that the parliament adopt a declaration on the referendum was to respect the voters' will and intensify social dialogue.
"I am glad that trade unions have responded positively to my proposal, but it takes two to tango - the government obviously wants to take a different path," Josipovic said.
