According to the indictment, Roncevic and Bacic purchased 39 Iveco military trucks for 34.4 million kuna through a direct deal with Eurokamion, or 10.2 million kuna more than those offered by MAN Importer, which was the cheapest bidder.
The defendants claim that cheapest bidder did not meet criteria stipulated in the tender documentation for the purchase of trucks. They refer to the criteria about vehicles' capacity.
Vinko Ugrina, an expert in engineering, said today that none of the vehicles would have met the required criteria, had the criteria been strictly applied.
He said that he took into account minimum technical requirements regarding the vehicles' purpose.
The court witness testified that the term regarding the trucks' capacity of 5,000 kilograms was not determined as to see whether it was about the vehicle body capacity or the capacity in the event of their upgrading.
The witness also said that during the preparation of his position on the matter he had not been acquainted with documents which the defence teams today presented to him.
The defence teams contested the competence of this expert witness and appealed against his testimony.
