The aim of the document, signed by Economy Minister Djuro Popijac and USKOK director Dinko Cvitan, is to enhance the cooperation between the ministry and the anti-corruption investigating agency in their efforts to prevent and detect corruption and similar criminal acts and to prosecute perpetrators of such felonies in public procurement procedures, the ministry said in a statement.
The intensified cooperation is also important for Croatia's efforts to meet obligations stemming from negotiating chapters on Public Procurement and on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights within Croatia's EU accession negotiations.
Public procurement's share in Croatia's Gross Domestic Products reaches 16 percent in certain years.
