The SNSD party, which held a convention in the northwestern city of Banja Luka on Saturday, decided to pick Dodik as its candidate for the next president of the Republika Srpska entity.
Addressing the convention, Dodik reiterated that he would not allow any major changes of the Dayton Peace Accords which provided for a two-entity organisation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Nebojsa Radmanovic of the SNSD, who now sits in the Bosnian tripartite presidency as the Serb representative, will again run in the election for this post, the SNSD decided at the convention.
The strongest opposition parties in the Serb entity earlier decided to nominate Ognjen Tadic of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) as their candidate for the Serb entity's president and Mladen Ivanic of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) as Radmanovic's rival.
