Foreign ministers of Bosnia, Croatia and Turkey hold talks in Istanbul

Autor: mses
ISTANBUL, June 22 (Hina) - After meeting his Croatian and Bosnian counterparts in Istanbul on Tuesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said they would like to see to it that Mostar be a symbol of peace in the Balkans.

This was the third trilateral meeting of Davutoglu of Turkey, Sven Alkalaj of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Gordan Jadrokovic of Croatia, held on the margins of a conference of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), which is chaired by Turkey this year.

The three minister agreed that trilateral cooperation and relations between their countries were of strategic importance for southeastern Europe, and described their meeting in Istanbul as the confirmation of good cooperation among Bosnia, Croatia and Turkey within efforts to accomplish progress in the region and offer support to Bosnia.

In this regard, the Croatian minister Jandrokovic proposed the establishment of a technical task force consisting of ministry state secretaries or political directors who would suggest and consider joint projects.

Another proposal to this effect was to organise an economic trilateral forum in Croatia this autumn.

Jandrokovic's initiatives were supported by Alkalaj and Davutoglu.

The ministers discussed joint trilateral projects in the city of Mostar, including the reconstruction of a music school and the city hall and development of tourist trade in that city in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina.

We would like to see Mostar as a symbol of peace in the Balkans, Davutoglu said explaining that the city's landmark, the Old Bridge, was a symbol of links among civilisations.

Jandrokovic also invited Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as well as Minister Davutoglu to Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik in early July.

Alkalaj in particular thanked his two counterparts for their countries' strong support to Bosnia's admission to NATO's Membership Action Plan at the alliance's summit in Estonia earlier this year.
