According to a press release issued by this predominantly Bosniak political party, after holding talks with all potential candidates, SDA leader Sulejman Tihic nominated at the SDA presidency's session in Bosanski Samac Bakir Izetbegovic as the party's candidate for the presidency member.
The general elections in Bosnia are set for 3 October.
Izetbegovic, the son of the SDA founder and former head of the Bosnian presidency, the late Alija Izetbegovic, will vie against Haris Silajdzic, the current Bosniak member of the country's presidency, for that post.
Silajdzic, who broke away from the SDA party in 1997 and established his own Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, has recently announced that he will again run for the Bosniak member of the collective presidency.
Bakir Izetbegovic is a member of the House of Representatives in the Bosnian state parliament. Three years ago, he was defeated by Sulejman Tihic at the intraparty election for the SDA president.
Other Bosniak political parties have not yet announced their candidates for the collective presidency.
On the other hand, a majority of the Bosnian Croat parties have nominated their candidates for the Croat member in the state leadership.
The current Croat representative in the state presidency, Zeljko Komsic will again run in the elections as the candidate of the Social democratic Party (SDP).
The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BIH) has decided that its candidate will be Borjana Kristo, the HDZ 1990 opted for Martin Raguz, while Jerko Ivankovic Lijanovic will be the candidate of the party led by the Lijanovic brothers.
Nebojsa Radmanovic of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) of the Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik is expected to again run for the Serb member of the presidency.
Ognjen Tadic of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) will be the main rival of Radmanovic, who now sits in the presidency.
