Dealers said late-session trade and speculative selling took out stops around 75.10 basis March and pressured prices to the day's lows. Today's weak settlement signals lower prices Thursday, traders said, pegging major support at 73.80 basis the most-active March contract. March settled down 1.03 cent at 74.75 cents per pound, traded 75.75 to 74.70 cents. The back months finished 1.07 to 0.05 weaker. Volume was estimated at 10,000 lots. Prices are expected to rise gradually based a bearish world supply and demand outlook. "As we dip down into lower prices we will make more export sales and the market will rebound back up to 78.00," O.A. Cleveland, a cotton marketing specialist with Mississippi State University, said. Players will be able to more accurately gauge the situation after the U.S. Department of Agriculture releases its monthly data on Thursday, Dec 12.
