Traders had expected prices to follow through from Thursday, when the market surged to recent highs on record volume of 31,618 lots. Instead, the market retraced some of the recent gains amid moderate volume estimated at 16,000 lots. Prices opened lower and the market held its bearish tone throughout the session as it failed to make an anticipated move over unchanged. Deliveries today, the first notice day for the December contract, totaled 218. The contract expires Dec 6. Open interest in the December contract, which has remained high until late this week, dropped 3,972 lots to 3,232 lots. March cotton settled 0.63 cent lower at 75.10 cents a lb, traded 75.65 to 74.95 cents. December ended down 0.69 at 73.65. 251103 MET nov 96
