Apart from resulting in more business in Central Asian styles, business has been seen in a range of African descriptions, particularly in Portugal and, in smaller volume, in Spanish styles. But in response, customary sellers of Central Asian cotton have adopted a more cautious approach towards selling additional quantities with the result that turnover generally is slow. In long staples, demand remained surprisingly buoyant in the face of an advance in prices. More business has been mentioned in American and Israeli Pima, as well as Egyptian styles. 051044 MET dec 96
