Some traders reported enquiry from European buyers against shipment requirements in the new year, but demand nearer to hand appeared dull, they added. Growths mainly in demand included west African (on price grounds), and central Asian descriptions, with modest sales in the latter recently concluded in France and Belgium. Some buyers' attention was still directed towards Greek styles but the firmness of asking rates at origin continued to impede business. 191125 MET nov 97
