The buying was met by light scale-up trade selling and some fund pressure, the trader said. Traders and analysts said activity was moderate as about 17,500 lots changed hands with most of it being spread activity. Traders were rolling over their positions from December into March or May ahead of first notice day for December cotton on November 21, the trader said. Calcot Ltd cotton analyst Jarral Neeper said with the price break on Monday there was market talk of good overnight export business. "Estimates of between 70,000 to 100,000 bales were sold last night," he said. Textile mills were also finding these price levels attractive. "Thus there is some mill fixation buying," he said. December cotton gained 0.40 cent at 70.33 cents a lb while the rest of the board was 0.03 to 0.44 cent higher. 121130 MET nov 97
