December cotton fell 0.27 cent per lb on the day, to 72.11 cents, toward the middle of its 72.09-72.45 range, within the previous day's trading range. Second-month March closed 0.22 cent weaker at 73.36 cents, while the rest of the board ended down 0.05 to 0.19 cent. December cotton has been locked in a range between 70.80 to 72.85 cents a lb for the last five weeks, with little incentive to break out in one direction or the other. "There's just no reason to be overly bullish about this market," said Sharon Johnson, an analyst with Frank Schneider & Co. "We've got a good size crop in the Northern Hemisphere. Demand is off from where it was last year. Cotton prices are pretty much right where they should be." She said she expected USDA crop estimate to be unchanged to slightly higher, with slight increases in China's crop and slight declines in India and Pakistan's crop, as a result heavy rains in the region. 061111 MET nov 97
