"There was not much of a recovery after the break on Monday," Frank Schneider and Co analyst Sharon Johnson said. She noted that December was up on some local and speculative buying but better commercial buying were in the deferred positions.. The mills were taking advantage of the cheap prices in the back months, Johnson said. Also, players continue to roll over their positions from December into March and May ahead of first notice day for December on November 21. But Johnson said the open interest in December remained high. There was also a light amount of deliverable stocks available and that would either influence the spread to narrow in or be supportive to prices. Cotton was also pretty tight in the country," she said. Active December was up 0.14 cent at 70.47 cents a lb while the rest of the board gained 0.02 to 0.20 cent. 131046 MET nov 97
