An estimated 8,000 lots changed hands compared with Tuesday's official 9,996 lots. The most-active December contract ended 0.10 cent weaker at 73.75 cents a lb, having ranged from 74.00 to 73.52 cents. The rest of the board settled 0.08 cent lower to 0.35 cent firmer. Traders noted steady trade buying under 73.50 cents, and said sell stops are rumored to be resting around 73.20 cents, the contract low basis December. A move under the key level could trigger fund selling that would push the benchmark month to its next downside target at 72.00 cents, dealers said. Chart resistance was pegged at 74.00 cents, the high reached in the past two sessions. 211031 MET aug 97
