Volume remained light at an estimated 7,500 lots compared with Tuesday's official 10,610 lots. Trading sources expect new sales to total between 80,000 to 100,000 bales, and shipments to exceed a brisk 100,000 bales. Such bullish data could carry the benchmark December contract over nearby resistance seen at 74.50 cents and to its next upside target at 75.20 cents, they said. Most active December cotton ended up 0.11 cent at 74.89 cents a lb, having ranged from 74.95 to 74.50 cents. The rest of the board closed 0.10 higher to 0.13 cent lower. 141046 MET aug 97
