Most of Europe was closed for the Whitsun holiday. Higher Chicago soy oil futures at the end of last week supported palm oil prices earlier in the day, but traders expect a lower opening on Tuesday following the sharply easier start to trading in Chicago. "If Chicago is down at the close then we can expect an easier market on Tuesday," said one. UK based traders received little help from the Malaysian market where business was quiet ahead of the release by Malaysian cargo surveyor SGS of its export data for May 1-20. Crude palm oil sellers were $5 to $2.50 up while products were unchanged to $2.50 higher. In limited trading May RBD palm oil traded at $551.50, Jun olein at $584 and May stearin at $410 a tonne fob Malaysian ports. Lauric oils were not quoted, but traders said the outlook for coconut oil remains bearish.
