Business was slow and had almost ground to a halt by early afternoon with many players absent ahead of the trade dinner in Rotterdam this evening and a palm and lauric oil seminar being held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. "A lot of people arrived here last night and this morning and have spent the day visiting customers and contacts," said one Rotterdam trader. Malaysian palm oil export data released by cargo surveyor SGS had little impact in Europe. Societe Generale de Surveillance Malaysia Sdn Bhd estimated Malaysia's palm oil exports for April 1-25 at 549,976 tonnes against 510,908 tonnes in March 1-25. At the close crude palm oil cif Europe was $2.50 up while products were $2.50 lower with no further business reported. Lauric oils were slow to start and at the close coconut oil sellers were unchanged to $2.50 down while palmkernel oil was unchanged. Soft oils sellers were higher with soy oil one to 0.25 guilders up and rape oil unchanged to 0.75 guilders above Thursday's close.
