By the close sellers were as much as $15 below Wednesday's close as major shippers were reported to be switching from cif positions to the fob market. Palmkernel oil also took a pounding with sellers around $15 down for the same reasons. Soft oils posted further losses during the afternoon to finish 1.50 to two guilders down in active trading, but with limited tonnage changing hands. Traders said crushers were the main sellers with consumers and dealers on the buy side of the market. Palm oils was quiet with prices under pressure from the lower close in Asia. Kuala Lumpur palm oil futures closed lower following the release of the Malaysian Palm Oil Registration and Licensing Authority's (PORLA) dated for April. PORLA put local palm oil output at 733,245 tonnes, 7.24 percent above their end-March figure while stocks were 697,714 tonnes against 690,167 tonnes at end-March. Exports during April were running at 570,067 tonnes against 579,642 tonnes at end-March. Although the report was seen as bearish in Asia, European sellers were reluctant to follow the easier trend too closely owing to a lack of cheap replacement material. "Palm oil has not come down as quickly as people expected and sellers are finding it difficult to get hold of cheap replacement material." said one trader. At the close coconut oil sellers were $12.50 to $15 down after Apr/May traded at $680 and $670, May/Jun at $660, Jun/Jul at $650 and $652.50, Jul/Aug at $645 and $642.50, Aug/Sep from $642.50 down to $630, Sep/Oct at $637.50 and $635 and Oct/Nov at $637.50 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil was $15 lower after Jun/Jul fetched $655 and $650, Jul/Aug $650 and Aug/Sep $645 a tonne cif. Dutch soy oil closed 1.50 to two guilders down after Jun/Jul traded at 101.75, Aug/Oct at 103.50 and 103.25 and Nov/Jan at 102.50 and 102.25 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Rapeoil sellers were one to two guilders lower after May traded at 103 and 103.50, Aug/Oct at 103 and 102.75 and Nov/Jan at 104.25 and 104 guilders a 100 kilos fon ex-mill.
