SLOVENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER ON RELATIONS TO CROATIA

LJUBLJANA, Dec 28 (Hina) - The main achievement of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry are the acceptance of Slovenia into the European Council and the consolidation of a middle European image of the state, Slovenian Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle told a press conference today. Slovenian relations with Austria and Hungary developed very well in past year, Peterle said. As for the relations with Croatia, some open questions are still unsolved, like debts of Ljubljanska Banka, the Krsko nuclear power plant and the final determination of the border line between the two states, said Slovenian Foreign Minister. (The Ljubljanska Banka's debt to Croatian saving persons amounts to approximately 350 million of German marks. Croatia owes 45 million of German marks for operating of the commonly owned nuclear plant Krsko since 1991 while current liabilities have been settled. Concerning the border line issue, the main problem is the Slovenian request for control over the entire Bay of Piran, including the sea border, although the land border line indicates that the bay is supposed to be shared between Slovenia and Croatia.) 281703 MET dec 93
