ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Employers (HUP)
today said that a nation-wide strike called by four major unions
caused less damage than expected and was therefore a failure.
The HUP said there was a high level of cooperation between the
employers and workers.
Such a reasonable response from workers raises hopes that
union leaders would also join in the continuation of constructive
talks which could lead in the next few days to the signing of the
National Agreement for the business sector and public companies and
the beginning of talks on collective agreements, the HUP said in a
statement.
It said that the signing of the National Agreement was delayed
by the strike.
The unions' demands included the payment of a Christmas bonus
to all workers and pensioners and the signing of collective
agreements.
