ZAGREB, Dec 8, (Hina) - A UNHCR Bihac-bound aid convoy, whose
passage was approved yesterday by Knin Serb authorities, was
stranded this morning 50 kms south east Zagreb at Moscenica,
because of problems with local Serbs who were 'unaware' of any
prior approval.
"Local Serb authorities have stopped the convoy because they
say they know nothing of prior approval being given for the convoy
to pass through Knin," UNHCR spokeswoman Alemka Lisinski said.
"The UNHCR, through its Knin headquarters will demand that
Knin Serbs confirm the prior approval and insist that the convoy
reach the Bihac pocket."
The convoy, which includes ten trucks carrying flour, oil,
yeast, canned food, powdered milk and other supplies, is the first
to Bihac since October 1.
Aside from the UNHCR convoy which was ready to depart this
morning, a UN convoy for UN Bangladeshi troops also departed.
