territory of Vukovar-Srijem County have arrived in the unoccupied
areas of Croatia, the Vukovar-Srijem police department for war
crimes and terrorism reported today.
Most of the expelled Croats were from Bapska - 34 of them, six
were from Tovarnik, four from Opatovac, two from Sarengrad and
Slakovci each and one from Borovo Naselje and Vukovar each,
according to the report.
Most of the expelled Croats came via Hungary and a smaller
number came via Lipovac.
They all were forced to leave area, while having been exposed
to threats.
According to the statement of the self-proclaimed mayor of
Vukovar, Slavko Dokmanovic, broadcast yesterday by Borovo Selo
radio, the expulsion was necessary so as to provide accommodation
for Serbs from western Slavonia.
Dokmanovic also said that the authorities in Vukovar were able
to accept more than 3000 western Slavonia Serbs and accommodate
them in all villages and towns from Tovarnik and Ilok to Vukovar.
