A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON TUESDAY

ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - Ahead of the debate on retirees' problems, scheduled for today in Parliament, VJESNIK carries an article by Franjo Kiseljak, "How to Increase Pensions." The paper also details a session of the House of Representatives peaceful reintegration committee, attended by Prime Minister Nikica Valentic. "The Government is ready to back a ban on the eviction of refugees from (other people's) flats but with a fixed date: everyone who took possession of a flat after, say, May 15 this year will have to be evicted," the Prime Minister said, speaking about draft amendments to the Displaced Persons Act. Krunoslava Banic writes about the Croats recently expelled from occupied eastern Slavonia. VECERNJI LIST carries a bold three-inch headline announcing the ban on evictions of refugees. Also on the front page, the paper announces that religion in high schools will be substituted by a subject called "ethics and religion". The paper carries an interview with Liberal MP Ivan Herak, headlined "Istria Has Nowhere To Run To." (hina) jn as 231219 MET may 95
