ZAGREB, May 19 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK leads with coverage of the
Croatian Parliament session under the headline "Greater Rights for
Families of Defenders."
The article underlines that "families of missing and
imprisoned defenders will have the same rights as families of the
fallen defenders."
Vjesnik correspondents from London and Bonn explain "new
international calculations in the Balkans."
The London correspondent, in an article headlined "Belgrade
Could Recognize Bosnia", says in part: "It seems that Milosevic is
ready to recognize only the external borders of Bosnia-Herzegovina
and not its political leadership. As a reward, he would have
punitive sanctions lifted, after which there would talks with
Bosnia on mutual political recogntion."
The other Zagreb-based daily, VECERNJI LIST, includes an
interview with the outgoing Turkish ambassador, Yuksel Soylemez,
under the headline "There Would Be Disaster Without Federation."
Vecernji List carries a comment piece on the Serbian media,
with quotes from newspaper articles. Croatian special forces "have
such weapons which make you disappear without even firing"; they
can "dive from one bank of the Sava River to the other without
taking a breath"; and now they are preparing to "make an atomic
bomb."
