ZAGREB, May 12 (Hina) - Some of the 300 persons who voluntarily
left western SLavonia for northern Bosnia in the past few days were
motivated by family reasons, UN relief agency (UNHCR) spokesperson
in Zagreb, Alemka Lisinski, told a press conference today.
She said there were people who decided to leave because they
wanted to join their relatives and families in northern Bosnia or
Serbia.
The UNHCR was making every effort to ensure that these people
were informed of their rights and able freely to decide to stay or
to go, Lisinski said.
She said the procedure was for residents to first talk to a
representative of the Croatian Government, who explained their
citizenship and other rights.
"Only after that, if they are really determined to go, they
are registered and their departure is organised," Lisinski said.
