ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - Rebel Croatian Serb forces carried out a
limited artillery and mortar attack close to separation lines in
the Gospic and Otocac areas, about 200 km south of Zagreb, UN
spokesman Christopher Gunness told reporters in Zagreb. He added
that a ceasefire was agreed for noon today.
Gunness said that six Serb tanks had been spotted moving
towards Turanj, outside Karlovac.
He said that the disarmament of Serb forces in the Pakrac
area of Western Slavonia was not a surrender but demobilization.
Gunness said that disarmed Serbs would be granted an amnesty
and that they were not expected to be imprisoned.
Commenting on this morning's Belgrade media reports of the
bodies of massacred Serbs lying on a Sava River bridge, Gunness
said that the UN had absolutely no details of the alleged
massacre, adding that the UN would have known about it if such a
thing had happened.
