SHELLY SAYS U.S. INFORMATION CONFIRMS CROATIAN REPORTS

WASHINGTON, May 8 (Hina) - The US Administration's information confirms Croatia's explanations of treating civilians in western Slavonia, the US State Department spokeswoman Christine Shelly said Monday, asked about alleged deliberate attacks at civilians in western Slavonia. The Croats had told us they had done their best to prevent any unpredictable consequences for civilians to emerge during the operation, Shelly said, adding the US administration had meanwhile got additional information, which had confirmed the Croatian reports. Shelly said she believed that detailed checking of on-the- ground situation already resulted in the not so alarming picture as it had appeared after first reports of UN officials.
