ZAGREB, May 12 (Hina) - Croatia would invest 412,237 kunas into
the reconstruction of the Zadar and Sibenik areas, Reconstruction
Minister Jure Radic today told a press conference in Zagreb.
He said that 200 million kunas would be invested in the
reconstruction of houses and 120 million kunas in the construction
of the Zadar-Sibenik water system.
The construction of the water system, which would be supplied
from the Krka river, was our top priority, Radic said.
The region was left without its main water supply sources
after Serb aggression on the Zadar and Sibenik hinterland.
Construction works on a new bridge over the Maslenica straits
were progressing according to schedule, he said.
The new bridge was to be completed by Croatia's Statehood Day,
on May 30, 1996.
The old bridge was destroyed by the former Yugoslav People's
Army (JNA) in an offensive on Zadar, and southern Croatia was cut
off from the rest of the country.
A pontoon bridge was set up after the liberation of Maslenica.
