A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON MONDAY

ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - Today's front page of VJESNIK leads with a report headlined "Croatia on the Way to the European Council". The report says that a session of the subcommittee for human rights of the Parliamentary Council of Europe, chaired by Spanish parliamentarian, Lopez Henares, will take place today and tomorrow in Zagreb. The first page also carries a picture story on a carnival in Samobor near Zagreb. The paper carries Franjo Kiseljak's text titled 'Dealing with Debtors'. There is also a report which announces a visit to Sarajevo and Zagreb by the Turkish president Demirel. There is also a comment piece by Ivan Sabic titled 'Two Measures for New Municipalities'. He looks at the establishment of new municipalities in Bosnia-Herzegovina and writes that not all municipalities are formed under the same criteria. The Mostar question is on the agenda for talks between Federal partners on March 6 or 7. The talks were orgarnised by the EU Administration in Mostar, writes Mario Marusic, in an article titled 'In Four Eyes Before Three Sides'. VJESNIK's Belgrade correspondent in an article on events in Serbia, reports among other things, on a statement by Serbian Foreign Minister Vladislav Jovanovic who says that stories about Milosevic preparing to recognise Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are blatant media fabrications. The other Zagreb daily VECERNJI LIST announces that people who must report taxes only have today and tomorrow to do so. "A Quicker Route to the ES Through Switzerland" is the headline of an interview with Zdenko Skrabal, the Croatian ambassador to Switzerland. (Hina) jn sd 271153 MET feb 95
