ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The front page of today's VJESNIK leads
with a report on the situation in Mexico with demonstrations
against military intervention in the southern part of the country.
'No Change' is the headline of a report on American policy on
Bosnia-Herzegovina. There is also a news item on the plan for
withdrawing UNPROFOR from Croatia and news that snipers in Sarajevo
have injured another three people.
The paper carries and interview with Marin Golob, the
president of the Zupunje Committee of the HDZ (Croatian Democratic
Union) for Istra.
'Laughing at the International Community is Changing' is the
headline of a piece by Ivica Marijac, in which, among other things,
he writes: 'They are putting pressure on Croatia, even after the
latest moves to pressure Knin Serbs and insist that they give up.
As if the point of the crisis is in the level of ceding to a Serb
ethnic community and not the great state project, known as Greater
Serbia.'
Zeljko Matija writes of the terror of Knin authorities which
are getting richer through illicit trading and keep the population
in full state of 'information blockade'.
A VJESNIK correspondent reports on a meeting between
journalists from Croatia and the occupied territories after an
UNPROFOR press conference in UNPA west. The correspondent obtained
the February issue of 'Magazine Krajina' and cites part of the
magazine which refers to the Z-4 plan - the author claims that the
plan was leaked from the Russian Embassy in Zagreb.
'NATO is Looking for Enemies' is the headline of a comment
piece by Jasna Zanic Nardin.
The front page of VECERNJI LIST carries the headline
'Valentic's Free Hand' which covers a report that says, in part:
'There are signs that Valentic will be free to continue economic
reform after a behind closed doors Government meeting chaired by
the President.'
In a report headlined 'The Last Post in Belgrade' Zeljko
Kruselj writes on open letters by retired former JNA general Dusan
Pekic and Croatian General Janko Bobetko.
