A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON THURSDAY

ZAGREB, Feb 2 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK carried a report on the Croatian Parliament's House of Representatives session under the headline "How to Help Displaced People". In an article headlined "Knin's Refusal - A Step Closer to War" the daily carried reports from its international correspondents on the world's reactions to the Z-4 plan. VJESNIK journalist, A. Ivkovic, comments on French Foreign Minister Juppe's suggestion that the crisis in the former Yugoslavia could be overcome through direct talks between Tudjman and Milosevic in the first round, and eventually talks between Tudjman, Milosevic and Izetbegovic. Commenting on the Z-4 plan and its importance for eastern Slavonia, K. Banic, contributed an article headlined "People Don't Opt For War, But..." VJESNIK carried an interview with Bosnian Croat Cardinal Vinko Puljic, the Archbishop of the Sarajevo Archdiocese. The other daily VECERNJI LIST carried an article on tax reports headlined "How Much Tax Should We Still Pay?" French Foreign Minister Juppe's initiative for "a summit meeting of the chief protagonists of the drama" in the former Yugoslavia was the subject of Kruselj's comment piece headlined "According to the Model of the Berlin Congress" After rebel Serb leaders decided not to even talk about the international community's plan for their reintegration into Croatia, even a naive person could not but be aware of what Knin was up to. It's obvious that they want their own state rather than autonomy, according to a comment piece by Mirko Galic, headlined, "Serb Tsars are Naked". "We want dialogue with Croatia," said Zoran Thaler, Slovenia's newly-appointed Foreign Minister in an interview with VECERNJI LIST. (hina) jn mms sd 021159 MET feb 95
