ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK carries a front-page article
on a meeting between Croatian Prime Minister Nikica Valentic and
Austrian Ambassador Andreas Berlakovich, announcing that Austria
would increase economic assistance for reforms in Croatia.
Vjesnik includes a comment piece on the economic situation in
the country, saying that Croatia's primary goal is to become a
regional power.
The other Zagreb-based daily, VECERNJI LIST, leads with a
headline "Federation Will Save Bosnia" on the United States'
response to the Munich talks on stepping up the implementation of
the Croat-Moslem federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. US congressmen
asked for stronger pressure to be exerted on Serbia.
How to stop the aging of the Croatian nation is the problem
Vecernji list deals with in an article headlined "More Children Per
Family."
Vecernji list includes an interview with the former secretary
of the Serb National Party (SNS) branch in Rijeka County, Branko
Kostantinovic, who described as "absolutely untrue" a statement by
SNS leader Veselin Pejnovic that 300,000 Serbs have emigrated from
Croatia.
