ZAGREB, Feb 12 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman today
received, in his capacity as honorary president of the Croatian
Tennis Association, the chairman of the Croatian Tennis
Association, Minister Niko Bulic and the following tennis players:
Velimir Simunic, Goran Prpic, Bruno Oresar, Nikica Nadalija and
Vjeran Friscic, the President's office said in a statement.
Also present was head of the President's cabinet, Gordan
Radin, the statement noted.
The talks focused on the situation in Croatian tennis, the
work with young players and stregthening the Tennis Association
with well-known players such as Goran Prpic. It was suggested that
a Croatian Tennis Day be organised in Zagreb.
President Tudjman stressed the need for maintaining the
tradition of Croatian tennis and providing adequate training
conditions and good coaches for young players. It was agreed that
certain Croatian professional coaches currently working abroad
should be offered to return to Croatia, the statement said.
