ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - The Serb National Party (SNS) favours
UNPROFOR remaining in Croatia and wants Yugoslavia (Serbia and
Montenegro) and Croatia to recognize each other as soon as
possible, SNS leader Milan Djukic told a press conference in Zagreb
today.
Djukic added his party would demand that the Serb issue be
put on the Parliament agenda.
The Croatian Parliament is to meet on January 10 to reassess
the role of the UN peacekeeping force in Croatia and decide whether
or not to extend its mandate.
"To insist that UNPROFOR leave would be counterproductive
because without them it would impossible to implement the peace
process and the peaceful reintegration of Krajina," Djukic said.
He welcomed current talks between Croatian authorities and
local Serbs but stressed the ugency of initiating a third round of
discussions that would focus on the political issues and the
political position of Serbs in Croatia.
