ZAGREB, Dec 6 (Hina) - British Defence Minister Malcolm Rifkind
this afternoon met UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi and the UN
Protection Force chief commander, General Bertrand De Lapresle, in
Zagreb.
British Minister Rifkind today arrived in Zagreb after his
visit to UN troops in Bosnia.
After the Zagreb meeting Rifkind said UNPROFOR should remain
in Bosnia, at best, to continue fulfilling its task so that the
suffering of the Bosnian people could be alleviated.
"We would like to continue with our mission, and I hope the
conditions for such a task would improve," UN envoy Akashi said.
Asked whether UN peace keepers might remain just in some
Bosnian territories British Minister Rifkind replied that he
believed the UN troops would be able to continue their mission in
the whole of Bosnia or they would completely withdraw. "I don't
believe there is any other solution, " he said.
