SARAJEVO, Sept 11 (Hina) - Cardinals and bishops of Bosnia-
Herzegovina on Wednesday called Bosnian Catholic citizens to vote
at the Bosnian elections on 14 September without fail, and to
influence the formation of local authorities in those
municipalities where they had lived before the war.
"Let your vote go towards the candidate who is truly fighting
against ethnic cleansing or so-called humane resettlement, because
of which many of us have become homeless people abroad and among
our own people, despite our native soil, the native land of our
shrines and fathers' graves, because a faithful cannot give his
vote in support of this... By voting for representatives in those
municipalities where you came from, you are confirming your right
to return," Cardinal Vinko Puljic, bishops Franjo Komarica, Ratko
Peric and Pero Sudar said in a letter.
"We especially want to draw the attention of politicians and
reporters not to maltreat the feelings of religion. The mentality
and wish for creating some sort of 'national Church', an idea which
has recently been permeating our public, has to remain foreign to
the Catholic Croat," the letter said.
