most important roads connecting the two Bosnian entities would be
put under a special security regime, which would ensure that all
voters reach polling stations safely, spokesman for the United
Nations in Sarajevo, Alexander Ivanko told a press conference in
Sarajevo Friday. An agreement on this was signed by the Federation

Other roads crossing the inter-entity boundary would have to
be opened as well, Ivanko said. The agreed roads would be jointly
secured by IFOR and international police in cooperation with local
police forces.
Concrete agreements on transport vehicles had still not been
reached, Ivanko said.
The IFOR ground force commander, General Michael Walker, met
in Banja Luka yesterday with the highest Republika Srpska interior
ministry officials and told them IFOR would not tolerate any
incidents on the election day.
