BOSNIAC RETURNEES START RECONSTRUCTION OF THEIR HOMES IN STOLAC

SARAJEVO, 6 Sept (Hina) - After a two-month pause, the reconstruction of abandoned houses, which is part of a pilot- project on the return of refugees, started in Stolac, southeast of Mostar. UNHCR spokesman Kris Janowski said that 72 Bosniac refugees had started the reconstruction of their homes in Stolac and that for the first time they had full freedom of movement in the city. 'We hope this will secure the completion of the whole pilot- project and that Stolac will remain an open city', Janowski said. The pilot-project also includes the return of Bosniac refugees to the Croat-held Jajce, and the return of Croat refugees to the Muslim-held towns of Bugojno and Travnik. So far, the best results have been achieved in Travnik and the town was awarded additional financial aid, intended for reconstruction. (hina) rm 061457 MET sep 96
