ZAGREB, Aug 1 (Hina) - Serb National Party (SNS) member of
Parliament Veselin Pejnovic on Thursday forwarded an open letter to
Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa
Voicing support, in principle, to the Government's decision to
call local elections in the Croatian Danubian area, Pejnovic
questioned the Government's stance that only people figuring on
1991 census lists had the right to vote.
"Does this mean that Croatian citizens who do not figure on
the census lists in the two Danubian area counties will not be able
to exercise their franchise?" Pejnovic queried.
"Why didn't the Government apply the same principle to the
parliamentary elections last October?" Pejnovic pointed out.
Pejnovic also found fault with the date of the election
(December 1996), which could "pre-empt certain solutions."
